Beyonce's 'Lemonade' Visual Receives Four Emmy Nominations
In April, Beyonce served up a quenchable pitcher of Lemonade, placing ingredients of sadness, resentment, forgiveness, and ultimately joy within her musical concoction. Alongside the 12-track album, a visual guided fans through the emotional journey. Now, that same video, which premiered on HBO, received recognition from one of entertainment's most prestigious entities.
The Emmys announced that Queen Bey, alongside director Khalil Joseph, was nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, and three other nods which include Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Nonfiction, Event Or Award Special, and Outstanding Variety Special.
Since Lemonade's debut, Bey has toured the world in support of her sixth solo studio album, which boasts tracks like "Formation," "Freedom," and "Sorry."
This feat marks Beyonce's first time being nominated for an Emmy. Other entertainers that were also listed include Tracee Ellis Ross for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series (Black-ish), Kerry Washington in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie category (Confirmation), and Taraji P. Henson for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series (Empire).
