Kemba Brings "The New Black Theory" To The Streets Of NYC
Kemba, formally known as YC The Cynic drops a gripping new video.
Bronx lyricist Kemba created shock waves throughout the Internet when he shed his former alias YC The Cynic earlier this year. With his first single "The New Black Theory" produced by Frank Drake floating around music streaming services of all sorts, Kemba felt the need to release a powerful visual to accompany the record which embraces the term "The New Black” made popular by Pharrell.
Kemba depicts a Groundhog's Day style flick about the influence of the news on our beliefs. Directed by Sense Hernandez, the 25-year-old emcee illustrates the idea of respectability politics, or as Geraldo Rivera notoriously put it, "the hoody is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin's death as George Zimmerman was." The song will appear on his forthcoming album Negus, which drops July 22.
