Lin-Manuel Miranda Earns Star On Puerto Rico’s Walk Of Fame

Lin-Manuel Miranda completes another milestone, as the Hamilton star today is honored with a star on Puerto Rico’s Walk of Fame.

“For us, it is great news that Lin-Manuel Miranda will join us during this ceremony,” said Santiago Villar, founder of Puerto Rico’s Walk of Fame. “He is an international artist who has given Puerto Rico great pride because of his success with Hamilton. It’s an honor and much happiness that he has accepted our invitation to be present when we reveal his star.”

Miranda is a true creative genius that brings honor to not just his Puerto Rican brothers and sisters, but the Latino community as one. Earlier this year, Miranda garnered Tony Awards for Hamilton the musical in the categories “Best Musical”, “Best Original Score” and “Best Book of a Musical,” and was nominated for “Best Actor in a Musical.”

“Hamilton has become not only a smash hit, but a civics lesson our kids can’t get enough of,” shared President Barack Obama in a video shown at the Tony Awards. “One with fierce, youthful energy. One where rap in the language of revolution and hip-hop it’s urgent soundtrack.”

Like the overachiever he is, Miranda’s list of milestones doesn’t end there. He recently composed/sang for Disney’s Moana soundtrack and collaborated with fellow Boricua, Jennifer Lopez, on a peace-promoting anthem “Love Make the World Go Round,” which is dedicated to the victims of Orlando’s Pulse night club shooting.

Giving his final bow on the Hamilton stage in July, Miranda is now off to venture out into a different medium: film. His new project? Disney’s new adaptation of Mary Poppins, set to hit the big screen in 2018.
