Star Soccer Player Messi Sentenced To Jail Time For Tax Fraud
Yikes! It looks like Argentina's star soccer player, Lionel Messi, is taking another L this week. After missing a crucial penalty shot in the Copa America Finale against Chile and losing the championship, the Argentinian soccer player has reportedly been sentenced to 21 months in prison for tax fraud.
Jorge Messi, his father, was also given a jail term for swindling Spain of approximately 4.1m Euros between 2007 and 2009. The pair will also be expected to pay millions of euros in fines for using tax havens in Belize and Uruguay to hide their earnings. However, it is not likely that Messi and his father will be serving any jail time. Under the Spanish system, probation can be used as an alternative to prison terms of under two years.
Twitter reacted to the news this morning.
Nobody is above the law. Lionel Messi, just like any other living human being in the present life SHOULD pay taxes

It's not all Ls though. The pride of Argentina was also crowned the top scorer of all time during the Copa America games. Messi's team has yet to release a statement regarding the news.
