Common, Da Brat And More To Honor Queen Latifah The At VH1 Hip Hop Honors

Six years later, the VH1 Hip Honors is making sure their return is one you won’t forget.

After announcing plans to pay tribute to four of the greatest female MC’s – Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Salt -N- Pepa, and Lil’ Kim – Billboard garnered an exclusive on who will be paying tribute to the queen herself.

According to the site, Common, Da Brat, Naughty By Nature, MC Lyte, Rah Digga, Suga T, and Yo-Yo are all set to pay tribute to Queen Latifah in one way or another. Perhaps, in even better news, Queen Latifah will hit the stage to perform her 1989 hit “Ladies First” featuring Monie Love. The track was listed as number 35 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop.

The event, officially titled VH1 Hip Honors: All Hail The Queens, will also be executive produced by Queen’s very own entertainment company, Flavor Unit. Set to premiere Monday (July 11) at 9 p.m. ET on VH1, the show will take place in New York’s David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, with Eve serving as the host.
