Rich Homie Quan Blames Teleprompter For Biggie Faux Pas On 'Hip Hop Honors'
In an interview with V103, Quan defended himself by arguing that he'd "rehearsed" and "knew it [the verse] by heart."
In what is probably one of the amusing and embarrassing moments of his hip-hop career, Rich Homie Quan was put on the defensive by being derided by genre fans and gatekeepers of the culture after ruining the lines to Biggie's "Get Money" verse on VH1's "Hip-Hop Honors."
In an interview with V103, Quan defended himself by arguing that he'd "rehearsed" and "knew it [the verse] by heart." However, when the time came to perform the song onstage, the words didn't appear on the teleprompter as specified. "The words were supposed to be on the teleprompter and they weren't there."
He also issued an apology via Instagram for the hip-hop faux pas:
“I assure you that I never intended to disrespect Biggie Smalls. I have long respected his work and his contribution to the rap game. I greatly apologize not only to Biggie Smalls, but also to all of my fans and to New York. The city of New York has been nothing but good to me.”
