Rihanna Checks Into The 'Bates Motel' With New Acting Role
Rihanna is set to join the cast of Bates Motel to play an iconic 1959 role.
Rihanna is pretty much unstoppable at this point and it looks like the singer is adding yet another acting gig to her resume. After signing on to join the cast of A&E's Bates Motel, the Anti singer will play an iconic character, Marion Crane, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Let me tell you what a bad b**** is about to do," Rihanna said during her video announcement at Comic Con. "I'm about to check into the Bates Motel very soon. And guess what else -- guess who's playing Marion. Yes, so all you Comic Con fans, all you Bates Motel fans, stay tuned."
Crane was originally played by Janet Leigh in the 1959 Alfred Hitchcock film adaptation, Psycho. Marion Crane's most iconic scene in the original film was the shower scene, in which the character was killed off. Now, Rih Rih will be giving a modern twist to a classic in the series adaptation.
"We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate," executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin said in a statement.
Rihanna will debut as Marion Crane in A&E's fifth and final season of Bates Motel in fall 2016. In the meantime, check out Rihanna's video announcement below.
