Teen With Cancer Shot To Death Before He Could See His 'Make-A-Wish' Dream Come True
We hope you're in a place where all your dreams have come true, Diego Rodriguez.
Seventeen-year-old Texas native Diego Rodriguez had battled bone cancer for two years. Although his days were filled with hospital visits and rounds of chemotherapy, he had the same dreams as any other teenager.
Diego's only wish was to see his grandfather's 23-year-old Chevy S10 pick-up truck restored by NBA All-Star Tim Duncan's Black Jack Speed Shop. The Make-A-Wish Foundation was happy to step in and make his dream a reality, but a fatal accident has taken the life of a young man who was already living on borrowed time.
According to San Antonio Express-News, Diego was accidentally shot by another teenage boy when Diego tried to take the gun from him.
Diego's mother reportedly gave him the truck for his 16th birthday as a reward for fighting cancer and living to see another year of life. The completely restored truck will be unveiled at his funeral service and featured during the procession.
Charges are still pending.
