Power Moves: 50 Cent Is Developing A Superhero Series For Starz
Eager to capitalize on the success of their hit drama Power, Starz has tapped rapper-mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for an exclusive premium deal. According to Shadow and Act, the deal would entail development new television projects through his production company, G-Unit Film & Television, Inc. Expanding his television repertoire outside of Power, 50 Cent is abandoning his crime drama roots with Tomorrow, Today, a superhero series that would mark the first project in development under his premium deal.
Billed as a “superhero themed series,” Tomorrow, Today will follow a war veteran who hails from Chicago’s South Side whose life is upended when he is falsely imprisoned and used as a guinea pig for a crazed prison doctor hellbent on creating the perfect male specimen and killing machine. From then on, the beleaguered war vet set his sights on using his newfound powers for the greater good. By the sounds of the premise, it looks as if viewers can expect a quality superhero series rendered in the vein of such classics such as X-Men, Spider-Man and Captain America. Anthony Cipriano, whose prior credits include Bates Motel, will executive produce the show with Kirkland Morris steeping on as a producer.
