Amar’e Stoudemire Fulfills His Dream Of Taking Over The Israeli Basketball League


Amar’e Stoudemire has no plans on putting his amazing talents to waste. He may not have achieved the success others in the NBA have, winning championship rings, but that’s okay. He has declined all offers of autographing his name with another NBA team because he’s moving on to one of his biggest dreams, playing for an Israeli league.

The two year contract agreement has been set in stone, the New York Post reports. Stoudemire will not only be playing for Hapoel Jerusalem next season. He’s also pulling the team up to success, as he’s been granted part ownership of the team.

“This is a very, very emotional decision for me because at this moment, I have to uproot my family who have been stable in the U.S. to move to a different country,’’ Stoudemire said at a Garden press conference. “It’s also a spiritual journey as well. The next phase of my career – people have documented my journey with the Holy Land the last six years, the interest in playing in Israel. That dream has come true.’’

Stoudemire won’t receive culture shock over his big move to Israel. Back in 2010 he converted to Judaism after visiting the country, and fell in love. He has been learning Hebrew ever since.
