Donald Trump Uses Dwyane Wade’s Cousin Death To Corral Black Votes

As Dwyane Wade’s family mourns the unexpected loss of Nykea Aldridge, Donald Trump took to social media Saturday (August 27) to use Aldridge’s death as an opportunity to further his political campaign, and to gain black voters.

Last week, while at a Ohio rally in front of a nearly all white audience, the 70-year-old Republican presidential nominee attempted to bolster his African-American and Latino outreach with six words that have caused many on the left side of the political aisle to accuse him of speaking at minority voters, not to them.

“What do you have to lose?” Trump questioned. “The Democrats have failed completely in the inner cities. For those hurting the most who have been failed and failed by their politician — year after year, failure after failure, worse numbers after worse numbers. Poverty. Rejection. Horrible education. No housing, no homes, no ownership. Crime at levels that nobody has seen. You can go to war zones in countries that we are fighting and it’s safer than living in some of our inner cities that are run by the Democrats.”

Trump’s insensitive comments didn’t cause a rise out of the Chicago Bulls player, however, many on Twitter were repulsed by the former real estate tycoon’s gall, including Academy-Award nominated actor Don Cheedle.

Later Saturday evening Trump then Tweeted his condolences to Wade’s family.
