Choreographer Jae Blaze Discusses Teyana Taylor's Appearance In "Fade" Video

"The one word I can use for Teyana Taylor right now is 'superwoman.'”

The world is still trying to regain their composure after Teyana Taylor's incredible appearance in Kanye West's latest music video, "Fade." Pitchfork got a chance to talk to the video's choreographer and artistic director, Jae Blaze, to discuss her dance moves, the meaning behind her cat face makeup and the inspiration behind the video.

When asked about Taylor's Flashdance-style moves, Blaze notes that through the video, Teyana was able to bring the 1983 movie back into the public conversation for members of today's day and age.

"I mean, she just took Flashdance to 2016, if you want to put it like that," she explained of the rampant references to the film. "She brought it to a generation of some people who many not have even seen the movie before! She made it relevant and current right now. Her body is amazing. Her dancing was amazing. She's just a beast. All in all, it just came together really well." Blaze also explained that Taylor's use of different styles of dance, such as hip-hop, waacking and dancehall really made the flavor of the video pop.

"She used so many different elements in her choreography to bring back from the old school to the new school."

Probably one of the biggest questions fans and critics alike have about the Tidal-exclusive video is Taylor's metamorphosis into a giant cat woman at the end of the video. Blaze offers up an idea of what that means.

"I think the vision behind that was how amazing Teyana is, and how she's been on the rise, and how she's working, and you are now seeing her blossom into this fierce lioness, this fierce cat," she said. "...You know, the lioness always protects her baby. I think it really is about her coming into her fierceness. And that's where she is in her life right now. She is blossoming."

"I'm just so happy for her that this breakthrough has come and everyone is recognizing how talented she is," she continued. "Because on top of that, the girl can sing! She's more than a triple-threat. She's a superwoman."

Chadwick Boseman Died Without Will, Wife Files To Become Administrator Of His Estate

Chadwick Boseman died without having a will in place. On Thursday (Oct. 15), Boseman’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, filed probate documents in a Los Angeles Superior Court to become administrator of his estate, which is reportedly valued at $939,000 in personal property and assets.

Boseman, a resident of California but a native of South Carolina, is survived by Ledward and his parents, who were listed on the documents along with his wife. Per California law, the spouse inherits community property and splits any separate property with the parents of the deceased. Boseman likely had additional assets in a separate trust.

The 43-year-old actor passed away in August, following a four-year battle with colon cancer, which he kept secret from mostly everyone around him with the exception of a few people in his circle. Boseman and Ledward were first linked in 2015, and tied the knot sometime this year.

The Black Panther star thanked Ledward during his acceptance speech at the Screen Actors Guild last year. “Simone, you're with me every day,” he said at the time. “I have to acknowledge you right now. Love you.”

Ice Cube Responds To Being Called A “Sell Out,” Denies Endorsing Donald Trump

Ice Cube has been fending off criticism for allegedly linking with Donald Trump to help him construct his “Platinum Plan” for Black America, but the West Coast rap legend says that he isn’t working with the president and responded to being called a “sell out” on social media.

When I got bus to school. Homies called me a sellout. When I started rapping in 1983. Bangers called me a sellout. When I left NWA. They called me a sellout. When I start doing movies. Rappers called me a sellout. When I started my own league. The arena said it was a sellout.😂

Cube has been making the media rounds speaking to Rolling Stone, CNN's Cuomo Prime Time and Roland Martin over the last two days. In an interview with Martin on Thursday (Oct. 15), Cube discussed his Contract with Black America and clarified that he has not endorsed Trump, or worked with him in any capacity. However, Cube explained that Trump’s administration reached out to him about the CWBA, and apparently used some of his ideas for the “Platinum Plan.”

When asked to outline the similarities between both proposals, Cube seemed as though he was reviewing Trump’s “Platinum Plan” for the first time.

According to Politico, Cube traveled to Washington D.C. for a three-hour meeting with Jared Kushner and other senior Trump advisers. The story suggests that the meeting with Cube shows the extent to which Trump will go in hopes of making Black voters a centerpiece of his re-election bid.

Cube connected with Kushner through a mutual associate of his business partner Jeff Kwatinetz -- who is also the former business partner of ex-Trump strategist, Steven Bannon. Cube and his team reportedly continued meeting with Trump’s aides via conference call, and an additional in-person meeting (Cube did not attend).

The 51-year-old rapper-actor said that he was also contacted by Joe Biden’s campaign, but was told that the campaign wanted to wait until after the presidential election to get deeper into the CWBA.
