Disgruntled ‘Suicide Squad’ Fans Want Critic Site Rotten Tomatoes Shut Down
Summer’s most highly-anticipated films, Suicide Squad, has had its fair share of comic excitement and controversy and it hasn’t even been released yet. The movie that hits theaters tomorrow (Aug. 5) is about a team of super villains coming together for a top-secret mission, with stars of the anticipated movie including Will Smith, Jared Leto, Viola Davis and other.
Not everyone seems to share the excitement of this comic movie, especially Rotten Tomatoes, who gave the movie a rating of 33 percent. DC comic fans disagree with the rating so much that that they’ve started a petition to shut down the critical site.
The Change.org petition’s creator wrote: “Critics always give The DC Extended Universe movies unjust Bad Reviews… and that Affects people’s opinion.” The petition creator went on to add that it’s not about shutting down Rotten Tomatoes. “The aim of the petition is to deliver a message to the critics that there is a lot of people disagree with their reviews.” It was shut down just a few signatures shy of 18,500, although the goal was 25,000.
According to Deadline, the comic movie has been estimated to hit $140,000 its opening week. As for now, it’s still too early to tell if the movie will live up to the hype, or if Rotten Tomatoes tried to warn us.
