The LOX Pen An Open Letter To America On “What Happens?”

Music

The LOX appear to be joining the growing army of artists who are standing up against police brutality with their new song “What Happens?” Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch gathered their thoughts about all the recent, unjustified deaths at the hands of police officers across the country. The D-Block trio understand that some may take the song as a threat. However, they addressed their purpose for releasing the record in an open letter to America.

“Some may interpret this song as a threat – it is not,” they explained in the letter. “We are asking a question, ”What happens when we can’t take any more, what happens when we do to you what you have done to us?” As artists and businessmen we know good officers. We have gone to school with, grown up with and are friends with officers. Officers have supported some of our businesses and we appreciate and support officers right back. But, we cannot ignore recent horrifying incidents.”

They also expressed their concerns about the lack of justice in their communities as well as the dire need for equality and absolute freedom in our nation.

Stream “What Happens?” exclusively on TIDAL now and read their open letter below.

Dear America,

We want peace.

We do not hate police nor do we want police to hate us, but there is a divide in communities across this country. We feel like we (minorities) are a perceived enemy. We salute and acknowledge the good officers of the community around America but recognition of good does not prevent us from addressing what is taking place across the nation.

Some may interpret this song as a threat – it is not. We are asking a question, ”What happens when we can’t take any more, what happens when we do to you what you have done to us?” As artists and businessmen we know good officers. We have gone to school with, grown up with and are friends with officers. Officers have supported some of our businesses and we appreciate and support officers right back. But, we cannot ignore recent horrifying incidents.

To police and government officials across the world, please understand and over stand – We want peace!!! We are asking for no more, or no less, than equality, and justice, and absolute freedom, which is due to us.
