Dwayne Wade Says Donald Trump Used His Cousin’s Death For “Political Gain”

Dwayne Wade took to Good Morning America (Sept. 2), to share his thoughts on the fatal shooting of his cousin, Nykea Aldridge, and Donald Trump’s controversial tweet on her passing.

“It was kind of conflicted. On one hand, your cousin’s death is used as a ploy for political gain. On the other hand it’s a national story,” he said. “It goes back to that for me. I want eyes on this city. I want us to be able do more together, and the only way we can do more together is if more people know what’s going on.”

He later spoke on Trump’s tweet, stating, “I was grateful that it started a conversation but on the other hand, it just left a bad taste in my mouth because of what my family is dealing with and what our city of Chicago is dealing with, and it looks like it’s being used as political gain.”

Brothers Darwin and Derren Sorells have been charged with murder for the shooting of the 32-year-old mother of four. Aldridge was pushing a stroller when she was caught in the line of gunfire.
