Spotify Weighs Into Upcoming Election With New Series
Ahead of the one of the most influential elections for millennials, Spotify, Mic.com and Headcount.org announce they’ve partnered up to launch Clarify, an original audio and video series to encourage young people to vote.
The weekly series, which kicks off Tuesday (Sept. 13) with Diplo on the topic of student debt, will explore the intersectionality of music and social issues important to millennials. And as this year’s election cycle has already proven, an invaluable part of that group, come this November, are Latinxs.
“You like smart and fun one-on-one conversations, emotional roundtable debate and discussion, and schmancy video infographics that make you feel smart? We’ve got all that and more with some of the most intelligent artists making music today,” says former Daily Show producer and Clarify host Baratunde Thurston.
Talib Kweli, Chuck D, B-Real of Cypress Hill and Vic Mensa, among many others, are featured in respective episodes covering the gamut of issues, from education to immigration to civil rights and healthcare.
Every Tuesday leading up to Election Day, Spotify will release an original installment, expertly unpacked by Mic journalists. Headcount.org leverages their expertise at the center of music and voter engagement.
