Department Of Transportation Places Ban On Samsung Galaxy Note 7 On Flights


If you’re a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 user and you’re planning to fly anytime soon, you might want to take precaution in TSA. According to USA Today, the Department of Transportation ordered a ban on the company’s latest smartphone on flights.

Due to overheating, an alarming number — nearly 100 incidents have already been reported, the news site states — of the devices exploding caught the nation’s attention. Previously, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) cautioned passengers to refrain from turning on their device once aboard the plane.

“We recognize that banning these phones from airlines will inconvenience some passengers, but the safety of all those aboard an aircraft must take priority,” said Anthony Foxx, Transportation Secretary. “We are taking this additional step because even one fire incident inflight poses a high risk of severe personal injury and puts many lives at risk.”

Samsung recently made public that they ceased the Note 7’s manufacturing since the incidents have occurred.
