Eva Longoria's UnbeliEVAble Powerhouse Continues To Reign Supreme
Will Eva Longoria's new show target Latino audiences?
Desperate Housewives' veteran, Eva Longoria, is no stranger to any screen—small or silver—but she’s successfully expanding her prowess to tackle the behind-the-scenes aspect of show biz.
Back in 2011, Longoria launched entertainment company, UnbeliEVAble. Since then, the entity has managed to partner up with ESPN, Universal Pictures, and more. Although their most recent show, Telenovela, achieved solid reviews, it will not be renewed for a subsequent season due to audience shortcomings. But UnbeliEVAble snapped right back, signing a deal with ABC on their new developing series, 940 Saturdays, created by Telenova’s creators, Chrissy Pietrosh and Jessica Goldstein.
940 Saturdays is centered around three families banding together to survive (and enjoy) the Saturdays in between the day that their children are born and the day they turn 18. Longoria’s new show should be expecting success within its horizons, considering the network is already host to shows with a focus on variations of blended families with Modern Family and Black-ish.
This may initially send off a warning signal for competitive overload at first glance, but the shows’ target audiences are where they differentiate. Modern Family targets white American families, Black-ish holds an interracial focus with specificity towards “black-ish” families, and it can be proposed that 940 Saturdays will target Latino families, considering the company’s track record with Telenovela and a developing film titled, My Daughter’s Quinceanera.
Hopefully, UnbeliEvable's ABC series will be a step in the right direction in establishing and sustaining a definitive, creative position on the production side of all the lights, camera, and action for Latin America.
