Tidal is partnering with Keep A Child Alive (KCA) to give its subscribers a look into the organization's 13th annual Black Ball, in which stars join together to celebrate the work of KCA as well as to raise money for underprivileged children and families affected by HIV in Africa and India, who otherwise wouldn't have access to treatment.
This year, the star-studded event will be held at Manhattan Center/Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, and will include appearances and performances by co-founder Alicia Keys, Chance The Rapper, A$AP Rocky, Patti Smith and Salt-N-Pepa. Clive Davis will be receiving the KCA Humanitarian Award for his ongoing commitment to the battle against AIDS. The event will begin live-streaming at 9:15 p.m. EST.
The spirit of the night is inspired by the 80s, which were a time in which activists spoke out when it wasn't en vogue to do so. The messaging and musical performances will reflect the time period, and a live, onsite installation by visual artist Shantey Martin will hold down the fort for decor.
"I’m so excited for Black Ball to livestream on TIDAL, giving so many people the chance to join in the fight against AIDS, and experience this truly magical night where all my worlds come together!” says Keys, who co-founded the organization in 2003 with AIDS activist Leigh Blake. To date, KCA has raised over $28.7 million for families and children affected by the disease.
