Lil Wayne Doesn’t Know Who Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty and 21 Savage Are
After finishing a book signing promoting his memoir Gone ‘Til November, Lil Wayne sat with the New York Times for an interview, which covered an array of topics. Weezy was asked about working with younger generation artists such as Kodak Black, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage and Lil Yachty, but wasn’t abreast on who they are.
“I swear to God I didn’t know you were saying people’s names just now, so that should probably answer that question. I just do my own thing.” Weezy said. His response probably comes as a disappointment to the youngins as you can hear Wayne’s influence in their music (not 21 Savage).
The 34-year-old seems to be out of the loop about new school rap artists. Wayne is famous for listening to his own music so it’s not that big of a surprise he’s unfamiliar with the new crop of artists. However, The Hollygrove native went on to praise younger artists he’s recently collaborated with such as Solange and Chance The Rapper.
Lil Wayne also confirmed Carter V is finished, and better than anything he’s ever heard in music.
“It’s done, sitting and wrapped as is. I just listened to it for the first time in months the other day. I had forgotten every single word on it, because I work every day. I popped it in, and I was like it’s still so much better than everything I’ve ever heard. Not what’s going on right now, everything I’ve ever heard.”
