Miami Honors Diddy With His Very Own Day

Approaching the network’s third year anniversary, owner of Revolt TV, Sean “Diddy” Combs, was honored with his own day in Miami (Oct. 13) during the Revolt Music Conference. The mayor of Miami Beach, Philip Levine, donned Diddy with the honors.

In just three years, Revolt has grown remarkably into more than just another television network and is on track with its initial goals and growing past them. Diddy told WSVN 7 that he was hoping his event would be “a platform for new, young, and up-and-coming artists and executives and creatives.”

So, why shouldn’t he get his own day in Miami? According to We The Best artist, Kent Jones, this platform has enabled the millennial generation to be a part of the culture.

Diddy saw an opportunity in the industry that no one was capitalizing upon and successfully took a stab at it. The key? Following a similar path as MTV: providing videos (at little cost) with exciting, young personalities and providing music-oriented news, while receiving funding from advertisers who were interested in his 18-34 millennial target audience.

Speaking of keys and We The Best, DJ Khaled was also recognized with a second key to Miami. His first key was given to him back in October of last year to the city of Miami.

Diddy has been doing his thing since the early Bad Boy days, and DJ Khaled definitely put on this past year with catapulting his career in the right direction with the help of Snapchat, opening up for Beyonce’s Formation World Tour, and his first number one album, Major Key.

Hats off to both Khaled and Diddy.
