Remy Ma Gets Sentimental After Winning Big At BET Hip Hop Awards
"I had people tell me that it was over for me."
Remy Ma made a grand return to the airwaves with summer anthem "All The Way Up," but the Bronx emcee let the world know that getting back to the music post a six-year bid in prison didn't come without challenges.
After winning the award for "Track of the Year" with Terror Squad veteran Fat Joe at the BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday (Oct. 4), Remy reflected on the significance of her then-and-now moment. "I was in a very dark place for a long time, and I had people telling me that when I came home I wasn't going to be nothing. I had people tell me that it was over for me," she reveals. "I had my brother [Fat Joe] tell me that we all the way up, ain't nothing stopping us."
To bless the honor with a dose of black love, Remy's husband Papoose uplifted his wife by joining her on stage. "Make some noise for the queen, y'all." Congrats are definitely in order for Remy, who also took home the award for "Best Collaboration, Duo or Group" before the end of the night.
