Toni Braxton Is Doing “Fine” After Being Hospitalized For Lupus Difficulties, Rep Says
News surfaced Monday evening (Oct. 3), that Grammy Award-winning singer Toni Braxton was hospitalized for lupus difficulties, and was reported to be in serious condition, TMZ originally reported.
The “Un-Break My Heart” artist’s spokesperson recently shared a sense of relief with the latest positive update on Braxton’s health condition.
“Toni is resting at home and she is fine. She was in an L.A. hospital for a few days being treated for her lupus,” the rep told People. “She has been released and starts rehearsals for her upcoming tour this week. She was not in serious condition, though lupus is a serious disease and must be monitored at all times.”
Braxton shared her battle with lupus in 2010, and most recently opened up about living with the disease in an interview with the Huffington Post.
“Pretty much when you have lupus you feel like you have the flu every day,” Braxton said. “But some days you get through it. But for me, if I’m not feeling well, I tend to tell my kids, ‘Oh mommy’s just going to relax in bed today.’ I kind of take it easy.”
The autoimmune disease can gravely affect various points in the body from the skin to the organs. Ninety percent of those diagnosed with lupus are women.
