Jeezy Encourages Detroit Youth To Dream Big During Surprise After School Program Visit
"Don’t let anybody tell you what you can’t do.”
In the midst of traveling the country to promote his latest album Trap Or Die 3, Jeezy carved out time to encourage the youth of Detroit to dream big.
The Atlanta rapper touched on his humble beginnings in a trailer home to his rise to chart-topping success while speaking before a group of students at a local Franklin-Wright Settlements after school program.
“If your dreams don’t scare you, you're not dreaming big enough. This world is big. You can do whatever you want to do," he said during the surprise visit on Tuesday (Nov. 1). "Don’t let anybody tell you what you can’t do, and every day you wake up, you got to think like that.”
Before the end of the event, city council member Janeé Ayers presented Jeezy with the Spirit of Detroit Award for his commitment to philanthropy and his embodiment of the best of what Detroit has to offer to the world.
"I really have a lot of love and respect for everybody that's from this city because y'all are tough, and y'all do go hard, and the reason I represent y'all so well is because I feel the same way," Jeezy continued. "I come from the bottom, and I strive every day to get to the top."
