50 Cent Reportedly Scores New Role In Crime Thriller
50 Cent has a new gig lined up for 2017. The rapper/actor will reportedly be heading to the big screen in the new year to star in an upcoming crime thriller called Den of Thieves, according to Deadline. The new film is being described as a "Los Angeles crime saga" similar to Robert DeNiro's 1995 flick Heat, so fans can probably a expect a lot of guns and action.
The Christian Gudegast-directed film will reportedly follow the lives of an "elite unit" within the L.A. County Sheriff's Department as they attempt to track down the state's most notorious bank robbery crew before they raid the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown LA. As expected, 50 isn't exactly what you would call a "good guy." He will reportedly play a character named Enson, who is part of the thieving crew, Deadline reports. Gerard Butler, who's previously starred in Olympus Has Fallen, will also appear in the film, as a corrupt cop named "Big Nick" Flanagan.
5o Cent's new role is coming at great time, especially since the the actor alluded to leaving his hit TV series Power earlier this week. The executive producer of the top-rated Stars program took to Instagram to blast the Golden Globes Academy for writing his series out of the running for an award. The rapper finished his rant saying that his character Kanan "must die" because he has "other things to do." It looks like we found out what those "other things" consisted of.
Filming and production for Den of Thieves will reportedly kick off in February. The film has not been given an official release date as of yet.
