Chance The Rapper To Speak At NAACP's "The People's Inauguration" Rally
Chance The Rapper is no stranger to being a mover in the social justice scene, so the NAACP Image Award nominee’s next appearance shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Chance is set to make another wave with a speaking appearance at “The People’s Inauguration.” The rally will take place at Howard University on president-elect Donald Trump’s first day in office (Jan. 21).
The event will be hosted by the Youth & College division of the NAACP, in addition to the Justice League NYC and the Empowerment Movement. The Justice League NYC seeks to “reform the criminal and social justice system” in both the city and state of N.Y.
A new initiative is being attached to the event as well. #StayWokeAndFight is seeking to incorporate direct actions, protests, and other forms of activism to combat against “threats to civil rights, education investment, criminal justice reform and other areas of concern posed by the incoming administration.”
Having led hundreds of Chicago citizens to an early voting site this past election season, we can rest assured that the seven-time Grammy-nominated musician will deliver verbal inspiration to last us through the next four years. But just in case he doesn’t, check out his recently-debuted “Yup” bathtime playlist to put your worries at ease.
