Diana Gordon’s “Woman” Visuals Give Utmost Praise To The Uterus
Diana Gordon is here to proclaim the love you should have for the awesome wonder that is a “Woman.”
Directed by Cameron McCool, Gordon’s concept to capture the how great women are is brilliantly captured in a black and white space as expectant mothers of all shades dominate the streets of New York. Speaking to Vogue last week (Dec. 7), the singer says the concept is more about the future than the present. “We shot this video on a cold day [in November with] pregnant women on the cusp of giving birth and hungry, everyone having to pee at the same time,” she said. “It was also one of the calmest days I’ve ever experienced. We all wanted to capture the incredible beauty of this ancient magic called ‘creation of life.’ I also wanted to give them classic beautiful images to show their children when they were older.”
The artist previously known as EDM chanteuse Wynter Gordon, wanted to get back to basics, thus using her birth name on her second go around. The 28-year-old has written for the pop elite like Beyonce, Ciara and Jennifer Lopez. She has the possible recognition of a Grammy, as she is a featured writer on Lemonade, which is up for several nominations including “Album of the Year.” Speaking with V Magazine, the singer says she was on the verge of retiring her pen when she got a call from Beyonce.”I threw away all of my things and moved into a house in the woods.I was just like, Let me strip my life back. Let me rewrite this story. And, as soon as I did that, Beyoncé called.”
Glad she picked up the phone. Check out the visuals for “Woman” below.
