DJ Mustard Talks 100 Pound Weight Loss: "I Wanted To Be Healthy"
DJ Mustard is looking a lot thinner these days, and the 26-year-old producer revealed how (and why) he dropped 100 pounds with the ladies of The Real earlier in the week.
“I like dressing in designer clothes and it’s hard to buy them if [you’re] overweight,” Mustard said of what motivated him to get fit.
“I got tired of going in stores and I couldn’t fit anything, and overall I wanted to be healthy,” he continued. “My son runs around the house, and I want to be able to catch him.”
Mustard shared that he spoke with Dr. Dre about wanting to lose weight before putting a plan into action. He shed the first 50 pounds by trading juice and soda for water, along with cutting out carbs and sugar.
After he began seeing “results,” the father of two started hitting the gym to maintain his weight loss.
“I didn’t start working out until I started seeing results, and I’m like ‘hey I gotta keep this going,’” he explained.
Besides sharing his fitness program, Mustard talked up his new single “Want Her” featuring YG and Quavo.
“I just wanted to get back to the normal DJ Mustard," he said. "I did a lot of commercial things such as [RIhanna’s] ‘Needed Me,’ and this song I did with Travis Scott called ‘Whole Lotta' Lovin’’...it was different from what I always did and I just wanted to get back to my roots…go back to the ghetto one time.”
