Hodgy Releases Solo Debut ‘Fireplace:TheNotTheOtherSide’ Feat. Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes & Salomon Faye
Bruh, Dec. 9th, 2016 is shaping up to be one of the best hip-hop days of my life. In addition to J. Cole, Ab-Soul, The Dream, Tech N9ne and CJ Fly, former Odd Future emcee Hodgy Beats adds his name to today’s numerous album releases.
His is debut solo album Fireplace: TheNotTheOtherSide is officially in stores now. Following this summer’s Dukkha mixtape, the LP contains 14-tracks and features the likes of Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne and Salomon Faye. Production is handled by BADBADNOTGOOD, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Knxwledge, Nottz, and more.
Back in November, Hodgy stopped by The Fader for a discussion about Fireplace.
“This album is really like the past five years of my life. I had to digest a lot of things I was going through. I had a kid at the same time that I got signed; I was on the road. A lot of things happened very quickly, and I never got the chance to chew it and digest it. I just swallowed whatever the fuck was going on and it just sat in my stomach.”
Hodgy continued: “It’s difficult to just be like, “Alright. Cool. This is my life now. Hella changes. Blessings come with curses and vice versa. I was at a place where I was actually going crazy, and I didn’t have peace with myself. I mean, words are spells, you know what I’m saying? Maybe the things that I said in my past music came to life, and I had to deal with it. At a point, I actually felt like I was gonna die.”
You probably remember OF’s memorable television debut on the Jimmy Fallon Show back in 2011. If not click here.
