Mariah Carey Returned To 'Watch What Happens Live' And Still Doesn't Know Anybody
Fact: Mariah Carey is the best selling female artist of all time. This cannot be argued and can be backed up with a cursory Google search. Also fact: Mariah Carey doesn't seem to know who anyone is, or at least that's how it appears whenever she's questioned about up and coming artists or fellow peers (i.e. Jennifer Lopez) on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happen Live!
Sunday night (Dec. 18) Carey, with her blonde tresses, robust cleavage, diamond necklace and all her diva glory, stopped by the clubhouse to chat about her new reality show, rumors she's dating her backup dancer, and to show off her waitressing skills as she poured Cohen a drink. Yet when asked how she feels about Ariana Grande, who many have compared to be a baby Mariah, the 46-year-old icon was (searches for the right word) "unfamiliar" with the "Side To Side" singer.
"I don't know. Honestly, I'm not familiar. I listen to hip-hop more than I listen to pop music,” Carey said.
Throughout the show, Carey continuously toyed with her hair and made sure to catch a glimpse of herself in the camera, making it hard for viewers to decipher if she was simply laying it on thick for the studio audience or, well, being Mariah.
During the show's "Plead The Fifth" segment, Cohen asked Carey about Demi Lovato. Months ago, the 24-year-old singer took to social media to blast Carey about how she speaks about other artists. When Cohen questioned Carey about Lovato, Carey responded in true form.
”I don't know her either and so I wouldn't say anything to her," Carey said. "She should come up, introduce herself to me, say, 'Here's my opinion, what do you think about it?' That's how you handle s**t, OK?"
All this "I don't know her" is nothing new, and has become Internet comedy. Carey insisted she doesn't know Jennifer Lopez, yet Lopez maintained the two have met many times in the past.
Okay, Mariah. You got it.
