Trump Administration Fires Transition Employee For Spreading Fake News
Michael G. Flynn Jr., a member of President-elect Donald Trump's transition team, has been given the pink slip over his inflammatory tweets about a fake story he helped share on the social platform.
The New York Times reports Flynn Jr. was a key player in spreading information about Pizzagate, the conspiracy theory that claimed Hilary Clinton held a child abuse ring in Comet Ping Pong Pizzeria with her campaign manager. Comet owner James Alefantis is friends with a few Democrats on Capitol Hill, which convinced the misinformed about the theory. The story was debunked months ago, but that didn't stop a gunman from entering the restaurant on Sunday (Dec 4). While no one was harmed, Flynn Jr. continued to fan the flames of the fake story on Twitter. He also retweeted claims that the suspect, Edgar M. Welch, was a paid actor.

Flynn Jr. is also the son of Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, Trump's surrogate, and top national security adviser pick. As a transition member, Flynn Jr. would have helped his father in his role. In addition to his tweets about pizzagate, Flynn Jr., has also spread malicious stories about President Barack Obama and stories about Sen. Marco Rubio sexuality.
In a statement to ABC News, Trump team spokesman Jason Miller confirmed the news. "The younger Michael Flynn was helping his father with some administration and scheduling duties early on in the transition process," Miller said, ["Michael Flynn Jr.] is no longer involved with the transition efforts."
Oddly, Vice president-elect Mike Pence denied Flynn Jr.'s employment with the development team. "Well, Gen. Flynn's son has no involvement in the transition whatsoever."
Before getting caught up in his tweets, Flynn Jr. was eyeing a staff seat at the National Security Council under his father. His father has kept his distance from the chaos by keeping silent on the social platform and with the press about his NSA role.
