Nas Gave Life To Hennessy’s ‘Project Wild Rabbit’ For Art Basel 2016
Amongst all the celebrities in town to indulge in the madness of Art Basel 2016, Nas and Hennessy made sure their plans to honor the weekend celebration of art much different than the rest. Last Thursday (Dec. 1), the Queensbridge MC flew down to South Beach to build with a wide variety of visual artists at the ‘Project Wild Rabbit’ Gallery. The Market Gallery in South Beach hosted the elegant showcase of unique artistry from graduate students from NYC’s Pratt Institute in honor of Art Basel.
As part of Hennessy’s Project Wild Rabbit Design Challenge, a handful of young creatives put their imaginations to the test in order to create their masterpieces in time for the showcase. In the midst of all the competing artwork, a never before seen painting of Muhammad Ali was also revealed by acclaimed artist & Pratt alumnus Kadir Nelson. Once he arrived on the scene, Nas joined Nelson and their team of judges like Hennessy & Pratt executives Ryan McGinness & Futura as they gazed and examined each entry. The two finalists chosen by the panel, Setareh Parvin and Arian Beauregard, were awarded a stipend and promotional support through Hennessy’s global network to help jump-start their art-driven careers.
Nas enjoyed the gallery, but he knew where the real party would be at. On Saturday (Dec. 3rd), Nas made moves to join Diddy at Rockwell. As we walked into the venue, numerous pieces of amazing artwork inspired by Nasir were scattered all over the walls as a tribute to Mr. Jones. Throughout the night, bottles of Hennessy, Moët champagne, and Diddy’s Deleon Tequila flooded the VIP section as numerous celebrities like Flo Rida, Pleasure P, and Fonzworth Bentley arrived to turn up with Esco and Puff.
