Young Thugs Has Joined A New Campaign To Combat Nationwide Poverty
Young Thug may be sitting front row at New York Fashion Week shows and donning some fine jewels these days, but he wasn't always bathing in coins. In the latest December issue of Paper magazine, the rapper remembers a simpler time, in which he didn't have "anything." While Thugger has since upgraded his living conditions, he's joined the #fightpovertyagain campaign in order to help those who are less fortunate.
In the magazine, the "With Them" rapper and his fiancee Jerrika Karlae discussed how poverty affected them growing up and how they want to fight it in their own communities. "[The fight against poverty] is important and means a lot to me, because it is a part of my background," Thugger said. "Where I'm from is real poverty. My mama had 11 kids, and when you have that many kids, you're going to experience hard times. We all got it though, my friends and I were robbers. We were bad ass kids that took everything we wanted."
The Jeffery artist also spoke about the importance of giving back. "I think people only care about what affects them. It's selfish, but I think it's the truth. If they are not affected by being poor, they don't typically fight for it. I remember not having anything, so I want to always stay involved," he added.
It is a little unclear on how the couple will help combat poverty on a national and potentially global scale, but it's possible they will start in their hometowns. Hopefully, whatever their charity work will be, it won't look anything like that time Thug threw dollar bills at an Alaska Airlines worker in Atlanta earlier this month.
