This Child Protester's Reaction To Donald Trump's Muslim Ban Is All Of Us
Like the late great Whitney Houston once said, "I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way." Much like previous demonstrations against police brutality and recently the Women's March, children were seen with their older siblings and parents protesting against President Donald's Trump's newly signed executive order known as the Muslim ban.
From airports in America to Britain, children from all backgrounds welcomed Syrian refugees and members of seven predominantly Muslim nations that have been grossly affected by the ban. But of course, their signs have carried more weight and emotion than their elders cause, innocence. One photo that has gained plenty of attention online is a simple and yet poignant message to Trump from a Portland child protester.
Trump's ban has not only been criticized by kids but by his fellow Republicans. CNN reports shortly after his executive order on Friday (Jan. 27), Sen. John McCain and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham issued a joint statement where they slammed Trump for inciting panic among the people and creating a "self-inflicted wound in the fight against terrorism.""This executive order sends a signal, intended or not, that America does not want Muslims coming into our country," the statement reads. "That is why we fear this executive order may do more to help terrorist recruitment than improve our security."
Trump has dismissed the men and released a statement criticizing the media's coverage of the order he's called a Muslim ban in the past. "To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting," he said. "This is not about religion — this is about terror and keeping our country safe."
If he doesn't listen to McCain or Graham, at least he can take heed to the children.
