Elementary Students Voice Their Concerns On Donald Trump This President's Day
Like some educators across the nation, Houston teacher Laura Jones found herself at a loss for words when it came time to address her predominately Latino class the day after Donald Trump's election.
“Is my family going to be separated?” and “Why doesn’t Donald Trump like us?” were among the questions her fourth graders had lined up for her, The Huffington Post reports. Though she didn't have an answer for every child, Jones encouraged her students to put their concerns on paper.
In a poignant video shared on President's Day (Feb. 20), they courageously tackle everything from Trump's "Muslim Ban" to his proposed border wall between Mexico and the United States in letters to the 45th president. “I know I can’t make you change your mind, but a president is supposed to care for his country,” one student expressed.
