“We live in a culture that has always been obsessed with one age-old question: who’s the best?” said Black Thought to open up the set, which took the viewers on a journey of basketball’s evolution through eras, and featured dancers doing dance moves that were popular during the time period.

Wondaland artist Jidenna introduced the early-1950s era of the game, while Hamilton star Daveed Diggs rhymed about the flavor and open inclusiveness of the 1970s time period. DJ Jazzy Jeff scratched some sounds on the 1’s and 2’s while Darryl “DMC” McDaniels rapped about the basketball stars of the 1980s, and Michael B. Jordan discussed the “bosses” of the 1990s.

“Greatness is simplicity. Greatness is style. Greatness is superstar. Greatness is power. Greatness is here and now,” sounded off each star before Black Thought introduced the current superstars of the game, the All-Star line-up representing the East and West coasts.
