Janelle Monae Surprises "Hidden Figure" Raye Montague On GMA

Montague, the woman in Navy to act as a program manager, also got a pleasant surprise from Monae's co-star, Octavia Spencer.

Over time, we're finding out more and more about the men and women of color who have left a permanent mark in history. On Monday (Feb. 20), Janelle Monae helped honor Raye Montague, the first woman to become a program manager in Navy history and the first woman to design a ship using a computer.

On Good Morning America, the 82-year-old was honored as a hidden figure for her work in the Navy. After taking on a degree in business at  University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (previously known as Arkansas AM&N), the Litte Rock native worked as a digital computer operator at a Navy station in Maryland. During her 50 years in the field, Montague worked as a program director for the Naval Sea Systems Command. It's also known as the fifth largest program in the U.S. Navy.

After she was turned away from obtaining her engineering degree, she decided to take computer programming classes at night. This helped her build a program meant to help design navy ships and submarines. Montague was reportedly given a month to complete the task but finished the job in 18 hours and 56 minutes. “I just never dreamed that I would be credited with achieving as much as I did,” she told GMA co-host Robin Roberts of Hidden Figures. “It was really my story… I faced a lot of the same barriers that those ladies faced.”

During the segment, Monae came out to surprise the award-winning engineer and praise her for her accolades, but not before Montague got to share her own thoughts on Hidden Figures. "You all were beautiful, just beautiful, and I know what you were going through because I was going through the same thing," Montague said to Monae. Monae replied, "We thank you so much for your service. You are an American hero and you are hidden no more. Everybody sees you."

Octavia Spencer also surprised Montague with a loving video. “I want to let you know that you are no longer hidden," she said. "We see you. We salute you, and we thank you.”

Andre 3000 Stars In New Space Thriller 'High Life'

A new space thriller is coming to theaters this year. Andre 3000 will star in the new film alongside Twilight's Robert Pattinson in High Life, and the first trailer looks pretty intense.

The feature focuses on a group of criminals who are coerced into a mission to travel towards a black hole to find an alternate energy source. They are also forced to undergo sexual experiments while in outer space. The 2-minute preview features Pattinson and Andre 3000 as they struggle to survive on the spaceship.

High Life originally premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival in Sept. 2018. It received positive reviews from numerous film critics.

"High Life is as visually arresting as it is challenging, confounding, and ultimately rewarding - which is to say it's everything film fans expect from director Claire Denis," Rotten Tomatoes said of the film.

The film is written and directed by Claire Denis. High Life will hit theaters on Apr. 12. Watch the new trailer in the video above.

They Don't Want You To Win: D.J. Khaled Joins 'Bad Boys' Sequel

D.J. Khaled knows they don't want you to win, but that hasn't stopped the producer and performer from doing just that.

Variety reports Asahd's father will star alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the forthcoming action-comedy Bad Boys For Life. It's unclear at this time what role Khaled will play.

Also joining the cast is Vanessa Hudgins, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Jacob Scipio, and Paola Nuñez. Joe Pantoliano reprises his role as the irritable Captain Howard.

Smith and Lawrence play detectives Mike Lowery, and Marcus Burnett respectively. While Lowery shoots first and asks questions later, Burnett, the family man, tries desperately to incorporate a more pragmatic approach.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will helm the film and Jerry Bruckheimer returns as the franchise producer. The first Bad Boys was released in 1995 with a $23 million budget and earned $141 million in the box office. Bad Boys II released in 2003 had a $130 million budget and earned $273 million.

The third installment of the buddy-cop film revolves around a new specialized unit that clashes with Lowery and Burnett's old-school tactics when a new criminal threat emerges in Miami.
