Rick Ross Apparently Wasn't A Fan Of Meek Mill's Relationship With Nicki Minaj
The rapper mentions Nicki and his friendship with Meek on his latest album, Rather You Than Me.
We guess it's true that the hardest part of the business is minding your own, as every aspect of one's life can be seen on social media and if your an artist, picked apart in your lyrics. The two seemed to merge Thursday (March 16) following the leak of Rick Ross' Rather You Than Me, with the rapper candidly expressing his thoughts on Birdman and now, Meek Mill's former relationship with Nicki Minaj.
"Apple of My Eye," the album's opener featuring Raphel Saadiq, highlights some of the highs and lows of his career, including a seizure he had during the Super Bowl and meeting former President Barack Obama last year. The track's reminiscent sound must have implied the rapper to look back on his friendship with Meek Mill, which may have hit a snag when the Philly rapper was dating Nicki Minaj. "I told Meek I wouldn't trust Nicki/instead of beefing with your dawg you just give them some distance," he says just a few bars in."We all make mistakes let's not get too specific/like I rather be a killer than be a statistic."
Meek hasn't ignored the turning wave of his personal life taking over headlines since the two split earlier this year. "My life has been a big topic in this industry for a minute now," he captioned his latest photo on Instagram. "It's almost scary for me to do an interview because I don't know how to lie unless I have to."
Nicki Minaj hasn't commented directly on her breakup with the rapper, but speaks of love lost on her latest release, "Regret In Your Tears." "Yeah, and they say big girls don't cry/Baby I cried," Nicki sings. "The real ones don't lie/Baby you lied."
Ross doesn't seem to be worried too much about the leak, as he's currently prepping for his performance at VIBE's SXSW showcase this evening.
Rather You Than Me offcially releases to the masses March 17.
