Curveball: Tyra Banks Will Be The New Host Of ‘America’s Got Talent’

Weeks after Nick Cannon announced his departure from hosting the NBC show America’s Got Talent, judge Howie Mandel revealed on Twitter that model Tyra Banks will be joining the AGT family.

Banks, who has had hosting experience as the star of her own talk show and as the head judge, creator and host of America’s Next Top Model, confirmed the news with a tweet of her own, which read “Surprise! TyTy is the new host of #AGT @nbcagt! Can’t wait 2work w/new fam…”

For a few weeks, reports swirled that the final three potential new hosts were comedian and actor Marlon Wayans, former Disney actor Brandon Mychal Smith and comedian Tone Bell. Cannon, who left the show due to NBC reportedly threatening to terminate his position after serving 12 seasons as host, commented on the potential hosts all being black male comedians.
