George Lopez And D.L. Hughley Get Matching Charlie Murphy Tribute Tattoos
The comedy world is still mourning the loss of the hilarious and talented Charlie Murphy, who succumbed to leukemia complications on Apr. 12 at the age of 57. However, thanks to tributes and memories about the funny man, his legacy continues to live on.
George Lopez and D.L. Hughley took to Instagram to show their respect to their fallen friend. The duo were in NYC to attend Murphy’s funeral, and also paid a visit to Fun City Tattoo in the city to get “Darkness” inked on the sides of their hands in honor of Murphy.
“Eternal #Darkness is spreading,” wrote Lopez. “we [email protected]”
Of course, fans of “Chappelle’s Show” will recognize “Darkness” as a running gag; in the “True Hollywood Stories” skit that Murphy was featured in, he said that Rick James gave him the nickname in the 80s. Both Lopez and Hughley performed with Murphy on the Comedy Get Down tour.
Other attendees of Murphy’s Apr. 19 service included Dave Chappelle, Cedric The Entertainer, Eddie Griffin and Donnell Rawlings, according to the New York Daily News.
