Lauryn Hill’s Daughter, Selah Marley, Is Working On A "Visually Enticing" New Project

The teen covers the U.K.'s Sunday Times style magazine.

Selah Marley, the 18-year-old daughter of Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley, is blazing her own path. The teen model, whose resume includes working with Chanel, Calvin Klein, Kanye West's Yeezy Season presentation, and Beyonce's Ivy Park,  landed the April 2017 cover of the U.K. Sunday Times style magazine.

In the cover story, Marley recounts meeting West for the first time, and the significance of Beyonce’s Ivy Park line.

“I think a lot of times the image that black women have in the media is quite negative,” Marley says of joining SZA, and Black-ish star Yara Shahidi for Ivy Park’s SS17 campaign. “I think Beyoncé working to really empower and show the grace and beauty and intelligence in young black women is really beautiful.”

Although Marley has met Queen Bey a few times, she was much more nervous to finally be introduced to West. “I was getting anxiety, like, yo, I wanna tell Kanye I love him,” she recalls of meeting West at the Yeezy Season presentation earlier in the year. “He’s been through a lot of persecution in the media and by people, but it doesn’t stop him from being who he is.”

The self-proclaimed “knowledge junkie” enjoys “writing, music, and connecting with people,” and is currently studying science and spirituality at New York University.

She’s also has a new project in the works. “I’m working on a project that basically expresses the entirety of myself. I feel like modeling can be a little surface,” says Marley. “I think this project is really just the purest expression of myself and things I’ve internalized for a long time.”

But she’s not exactly sure how to categorize the work. “It’s a little bit of a blog,” Marley explained. “I don’t really know what to call it, but it’s going to be a really interactive, visually enticing experience.”

Soulja Boy To Remove Gucci Face Tattoo Amid Blackface Controversy

Gucci is still facing backlash after the fashion brand debuted a women's shirt that appeared to resemble blackface imagery. And now it's heavily affecting their credibility in the hip-hop community. In response to the recent scandal, Soulja Boy announced that he in the process of  removing his forehead tattoo which contains the Gucci logo on it.

"I Love Gucci, man. I got a Gucci tattoo in the middle of my forehead," Soulja Boy told TMZ while walking down the street in Los Angeles. When asked if he was going to get his face tattoo remove, the rapper replied:, "I've already started the process. I've got to go back two more times. I've already been three times."

Soulja also noted that he plans to give away the Gucci merch that he has collected over the years. "I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, over the last two years on the brand so it's like I feel so disrespected by them," he added.

The "Pretty Boy Swag' rapper isn't the only black artist to denounce Gucci however. T.I. and Spike Lee have both protested the label and have vowed to boycott the brand until further notice. Dapper Dan, who has commonly used the brand's logo in his designs, also released a statement saying that he would be sitting down with the brand to have a serious discussion about moving forward.

Spike Lee Is Boycotting Gucci And Prada Until They Hire Black Designers

Spike Lee has had enough with fashion brands and politicians using blackface. The Academy Award nominee announced on Friday (Feb. 8) that he will be boycotting Gucci and Prada fashion brands until they decide to hire black designers.

"I, Spike Lee Of Sound Mind And Body Will No Longer Wear Prada Or Gucci Until They Hire Some Black Designers To Be In Da Room When It Happens," Lee wrote in a post on Instagram. "It's Obvious To Da Peoples That They Don't Have A Clue When It Comes To Racist, Blackface Hateful Imagery. WAKE UP. Ya-Dig? Sho-Nuff. And Dat's Da 'Coonery And Buffoonery' Truth,Ruth."

Spike's comments come shortly after Gucci received backlash for debuting a turtleneck that appeared to mimic blackface. The all-black shirt allowed customers to pull the elongated neck up to their face, exposing a red hole for the mouth. The brand later apologized for the misstep, stating that it considers "diversity to be a fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected, and at the forefront of every decision we make."

Prada also landed at the center of controversy in Dec. 2018, after it attempted to sell keychains that resembled blackface imagery. The brand pulled the offensive keychain shortly after.

Kanye West's Identity Stolen In Million-Dollar Scam For NY Fashion Week

Kanye West has reportedly been the victim of identity fraud. Ye's name was reportedly forged in an elaborate scam for New York Fashion Week and the price tag was steep.

TMZ reports that a guy, who is allegedly an associate of G.O.O.D. Music, posed as Kanye's rep and contacted fashion designer Philipp Plein, who is in the middle of planing a big even for fashion week on Monday (Feb. 11). The unnamed person allegedly participated in negotiations for Kanye to perform during the event. Plein apparently fell for the hoax, and the two made a deal to have Ye perform for $1 million.

To add icing on the cake, the guy allegedly forged Kanye's name on the contract and requested that $900,000 be advance wired to a fake account in Kanye's name, which the man quickly drained. Now, Kanye is not performing, and Plein is out of a load of cash.

Plein has not addressed the recent news, but he is expected to take legal action soon.
