'Empire' Star Bryshere Gray Channels Taylor Swift For Appearance On 'Lip Sync Battle'
It's Hakeem Lyon like you've never seen him before.
Who doesn’t love Bryshere Gray as Hakeem Lyon on Empire? Well, right after the season finale set to air this Wednesday (May 17), at 9pm EST, we’ll see Gray in character as someone who stands as polar opposite to Hakeem on this week’s showdown of Spike's Lip Sync Battle.
Bryshere will be facing off against Empire co-star, Rumer Willis but by the looks of things, Gray may take the cake with his rendition of Taylor Swift’s pop break-up anthem, “We Are Never Getting Back Together.”
In a silky blonde wig, red, polka dot two piece skirt set and matching lipstick, The New Edition Story actor gets into the liberated spirit of the song –and Swift’s attire.
The outlandish outfits and dance routines are part of the recipe that makes the show Spike’s most-watched original series in network history. Last Sunday (May 7), Zendaya graced the Lip Sync Battle stage alongside Spiderman: Homecoming co-star, Tom Holland. She performed Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone”–matched with necessary head wrap–and decked herself out in Bruno Mar’s infamous red short set for her rendition of “24K Magic.” Both received quite the response of social media.
And please, let’s not forget Holland’s latex shorts and halter top-sported remake of Rihanna’s “Umbrella.”
Lip Sync Battle: Empire edition will premiere Thursday (May 18) at 10pm EST.
