Sugar Ray Leonard Discusses Mayweather-McGregor Fight
Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard was spotted at LAX by TMZ’s cameras, where he was prompted about the highly-anticipated square up between boxer Floyd Mayweather and MMA fighter Conor McGregor.
Leonard, who beat Floyd Mayweather Sr. during a match in 1979, recently called the Mayweather-McGregor fight the most “mismatched” matchup in boxing history. Because of the differences in the contenders’ fighting styles, the legendary athlete believes that the “dominant” boxer, Mayweather, will end up taking the W.
“[If Mayweather loses], they say it’s gonna make a mockery out of [the sport], I don’t think so,” he discussed. “Not one fight. But he’s gonna make a lot of money.”
As for what advice he’s offering to the Irishman before going glove-to-glove with the undefeated boxer?
“Duck,” he says with a smile, also noting that it would be “impressive” if McGregor lasts the entire match without getting knocked out.
