Lauryn Hill & Nas’ PowerNomics Tour To Raise Funds In Support Of Education, Health, & Tech

The have added a political twist to their upcoming tour schedule.

Lauryn Hill and Nas are on the brink of heading on the road for their PowerNomics tour. And in preparation for the upcoming schedule, the two have explained a political twist that they are adding to their shows.

PowerNomics reportedly stems from Dr. Claud Anderson’s book, which is about economic enfranchisement for the African-American community. So in celebration of that concept, the hip-hop legends will be raising funds in support of education, health, agriculture, technology, and other initiatives that will help build businesses and equity within the black community. Proceeds from each show will reportedly be donated to 44 charities, including The Harvest Institute, Yes We Code, Equal Justice Initiative and the International Peace Initiative.

In a recent interview, Hill suggested the tour’s mission falls in line with her longstanding ambition to encourage and empower her community. "My interests have always centred around encouraging empowerment, and focusing on ways to help heal, repair, educate and promote enfranchisement to the disenfranchised,” the “Lost Ones” singer said. “I'm excited to share this platform for community, creativity, and progress, helping to expose, educate, and magnify the beauty of cultural amalgamation."

Nas also stated: "PowerNomics tour is our way of being a part of the solution. We are here to lend a hand where it is needed and hopefully to inspire. I'm a part of a mission to help build a more diverse tech industry and to encourage my people to see beyond what they believe is in their reach.”

In addition to announcing their fundraising plans, Lauryn and Nas have also added Dave Chappelle to their Detroit show, as well as Nick Grant, Fefe, and DJ Lakim, and Hannibal Buress to select dates.

The PowerNomics 17-date tour reportedly kicks off on Sept. 7, in Chicago and concludes in early Oct. 2017.

R. Kelly And Sony Music Agree To Part Ways Amidst Sexual Misconduct Allegations

R. Kelly and Sony Music have reportedly agreed to part ways amidst a slew of sexual misconduct allegations, according to Billboard. This comes a few weeks after the airing of the explosive documentary Surviving R. Kelly, which chronicled the musician's highly-discussed history involving teenage girls and women.

A source reveals to the publication, "Kelly had been signed to Jive since the beginning of his career in the early 1990s, and when Jive became part of Sony BMG, he became part of the Sony umbrella. He has been under contract at RCA, a Sony subsidiary, since 2012." Protests calling for Sony to drop the Pied Piper of R&B took place outside of the company's Manhattan offices on Wednesday (Jan. 16).

After the debut of the six-part docuseries, which aired over a span of three days in early-January, several former collaborators of Kelly, including Chance The Rapper, Celine Dion and Lady Gaga, have removed their songs featuring the singer-songwriter from streaming services. Kelly is reportedly under criminal investigation in both Georgia and Illinois and is said to be a direct result of allegations made in the Lifetime documentary.

"Allegations against Kelly have been around for over a decade, and he was acquitted on child pornography charges in 2008," Billboard continues. "But they have resurfaced repeatedly in recent years, with the latest arriving this month. Kelly has repeatedly denied all allegations of misconduct."

Leikeli47's 2019 is off to a great start. The VIBE NEXT star announced her upcoming tour to support her recently-released album Acrylic on Friday (Jan. 18), and subsequently dropped the music video for her song, "Tic Boom."

The neutrally-colored video featured simple-yet-eye catching choreography with dancers in trench coats and fedoras. In a statement, the masked marvel says that there is a deeper meaning behind the track, which was featured on Grown-ish.

"It's about facing whatever your Goliath is and chopping its head off. That's what 'Tic Boom' is about. It's about owning your moment, mastery, and doing it afraid if you have to."

Future Says Russell Wilson Needs To Be 'A Man,' Does Whatever Ciara Tells Him To Do

Future is not holding back in a new interview featured on FREEBANDZ Radio via Apple Music. The "Crushed Up" rapper discussed his new album The WIZRD with host Big Bank Black, and things got tense when he was queried about the mother of his son, Ciara, and her relationship with her husband, Russell Wilson.

“[Wilson] do exactly what she tell him to do!" Fewtch said in reference to the NFL player. "I feel like he not being a man in that position. He not tellin’ her, 'Chill out with that on the Internet. Don’t even talk to him [Future]. I’m your husband! You better not even bring Future’s name up!’"

He continues by saying that if he was still with Ciara, bringing up an ex's name in conversation wouldn't even be part of a conversation.

"If that was me, she couldn’t even bring his name up,” he continued. “She know that. She couldn’t even bring her ex's names up. I don’t care what they gave you... Don’t bring their names up in an interview! No! Don’t give that sh*t no energy. It’s about me, whatever, I’m taking care of everything, I'm a thousand percent. I live by a different kind of rules.”

"You know I'm taking care of my kids, what's the real issue?" he continues. "Y'all get married, and [Ciara] was like "I want you to meet Russell now," man, y'all already done did all the damage." However, he did give Wilson his props for helping his son learn how to play sports, and he doesn't look at that negatively.

Future and Ciara have not had an amicable split. They have gone back-and-forth with their words on social media and attempted to settle a custody battle for the four-year-old son, Future.
