JAY-Z To Receive “The GRAMMY Salute To Industry Icons Award”


Another day, another historic accolade for JAY-Z. The highly-decorated entertainer will add another trophy to his cabinet of gramophones turned cognac dispensary when “music’s biggest night” honors Mr. Carter with the “Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award” at 2018’s pre-show gala.

The event will take place in the “Smile” rapper’s hometown of New York City at the Sheraton Hotel in Times Square. The 21-time Grammy Award winner will be recognized “for his significant contributions to the music industry and his numerous philanthropic endeavors.” Jay will join the likes of Sir Richard Branson, Clive Davis, Berry Gordy, L.A. Reid, and Debra L. Lee.

His contributions as an industry trailblazer and music visionary only begin to touch on the tremendous impact he’s made both in entertainment and beyond,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy, via a press release. “JAY-Z also embodies the vibrant spirit of New York City and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting honoree as we return to Manhattan for this year’s GRAMMY Awards.”

The Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee is currently on tour promoting his thirteenth studio album, 4:44. The soundscape, predominately produced by No I.D., allowed listeners to dive into a bit of Jay’s personal life from infidelity to generational wealth.
