Q-Tip Says “F” The Grammys After ACTQ’s Snub

A Tribe Called Quest’s final album, We Got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service, received raving reviews from musicians in the industry as well as fans. But the hype was apparently not good enough to get it nominated for a Grammy. Following what many are calling an obvious snub, Q-Tip responded in a series of videos on social media, flipping off the Recording Academy.

“Fuck da Grammys!!!” Q-tip wrote in a caption on Twitter. The artist also recorded three videos on Instagram, elaborating on his original thought. “We were the most black cultured group out. That’s what we stood on,” he  began. “This f**king album that we just put out, this last Tribe album, it stands for everybody else’s shit up there. I don’t give a f**k.”

While he has respect for the increase in black artists nominated, he still thinks the Academy missed the mark with not acknowledging the pioneering group. “Respect to everybody who’s nominated and all of that, but whatever. I’m speaking for mine. I’m sick of ya’ll f**king Grammy niggas, man,” he added.

According to fans, A Tribe Called Quest isn’t the only group who got snubbed. Others feels as though Future should have earned a nom for Best Rap Album for FUTURE, and Demi Lovato should have gotten a nod for her album, Tell Me You Love Me.
