Cinq Music Acquires T.I. Catalog, Preps Greatest Hits Album

A 10th anniversary reissue of 'Paper Trail' is also said to be in the works.

T.I.'s iconic catalog has a new home. Cinq Music, the digital-first record label, distributor and rights management company run by co-founder/president Barry Daffurn, announced today that it has acquired Tip's catalog of albums released while signed to Atlantic Records from 2003 to 2012, including his first Atlantic release Trap Muzik as well as No. 1 Billboard 200 albums King, T.I. vs. TIP and Paper Trail, among others.

With the catalog, Cinq plans to release a new greatest hits album, which will include alternate versions and remixes of some of his biggest hits, as well as a reissue of Paper Trail -- the highest-selling album of his career with 2.3 million units in the United States, according to Nielsen Music -- to coincide with its 10th anniversary next year. Additionally, the company acquired T.I.'s YouTube channel, and is helping promote his latest Hustle Gang collab project We Want Smoke, which was released Oct. 13 via Roc Nation.

Across his career, T.I. has landed seven top 10 singles on the Hot 100, including two No. 1s: "Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life" feat. Rihanna, both off his Grammy-nominated 2008 LP Paper Trail. A third single off that album, "Dead and Gone" feat. Justin Timberlake, reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 and was nominated for two Grammys, for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song; the star-studded "Swagga Like Us" feat. JAY-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne, which reached No. 5, took home the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group in 2009.

T.I. has released nine official albums over his 15-plus years in the business, seven of which were released by Atlantic; those albums have collectively sold 9.8 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Music. His major-label debut, I'm Serious, was released in 2001 by Arista; his ninth LP Paperwork came out via Columbia in 2014; while his latest album, The Dime Trap, is scheduled to be released by Roc Nation.

"Through artists like T.I, we’re showing Cinq is a company that artists of all sizes can rely on to maximize the value of their intellectual property," Daffurn said in a statement. The acquisition arrives as part of Warner Music Group's divestment plan following its acquisition of Parlophone Music Group in 2013.

It's also the first major move for Cinq since the company made two major announcements in recent months: in August, GoDigital Media Group invested $20 million in Series B funding in the company; and in October, Master P joined Cinq in the newly-created position as president of urban music in the United States.

Drake's "In My Feelings" Received The Kidz Bop Treatment

After the release of Drake's chart-topping Scorpion album, his single "In My Feelings" skyrocketed to number one, so it's no surprise the City Girls assisted track received the Kidz Bop treatment.

Since 2000, the compilation LP has sold about 17 million copies and over the weekend, Kidz Bop released its 39th installment offering the world a G-rated and tween-friendly version of today's biggest hits.

Once Twitter learned Kidz Bop laid its prepubescent hands on Drake's song, there was a mixed bag of feelings. Some went along with it and commented positively, while others were frankly offended.

I just saw a Kidz Bop commercial with the Kidz Bop version of In My Feelings and I feel like a curse has been placed on me

That Kidz Bop version of In My Feelings lets me know that hell is a real place.

This isn't the first time Drake's music has been Kidz Bopped. For Kidz Bop 31, "Hotline Bling" was also featured. The new 18-track album also features Cardi B's "I Like It" as well as Khalid and Normani's "Love Lies."

The lyrics to the hook received a slight change.

KiKi do you love me/are you with me/say you'll never ever leave from beside me/cause I want ya/and I need ya/and I'm down for ya always

And when it came time for the City Girls portion of the song, they turned that down as well.

all of us kids and we hangin' in the rain/hangin' in rain/I need a black card with the code to the safe/code to the safe.

Hey, kids need love too. Watch the Kidz Bop version of Drake's "In My Feelings" below.

R. Kelly And Sony Music Agree To Part Ways Amidst Sexual Misconduct Allegations

R. Kelly and Sony Music have reportedly agreed to part ways amidst a slew of sexual misconduct allegations, according to Billboard. This comes a few weeks after the airing of the explosive documentary Surviving R. Kelly, which chronicled the musician's highly-discussed history involving teenage girls and women.

A source reveals to the publication, "Kelly had been signed to Jive since the beginning of his career in the early 1990s, and when Jive became part of Sony BMG, he became part of the Sony umbrella. He has been under contract at RCA, a Sony subsidiary, since 2012." Protests calling for Sony to drop the Pied Piper of R&B took place outside of the company's Manhattan offices on Wednesday (Jan. 16).

After the debut of the six-part docuseries, which aired over a span of three days in early-January, several former collaborators of Kelly, including Chance The Rapper, Celine Dion and Lady Gaga, have removed their songs featuring the singer-songwriter from streaming services. Kelly is reportedly under criminal investigation in both Georgia and Illinois and is said to be a direct result of allegations made in the Lifetime documentary.

"Allegations against Kelly have been around for over a decade, and he was acquitted on child pornography charges in 2008," Billboard continues. "But they have resurfaced repeatedly in recent years, with the latest arriving this month. Kelly has repeatedly denied all allegations of misconduct."

Leikeli47 Drops Video For 'Tic Boom,' Announces North American Tour

Leikeli47's 2019 is off to a great start. The VIBE NEXT star announced her upcoming tour to support her recently-released album Acrylic on Friday (Jan. 18), and subsequently dropped the music video for her song, "Tic Boom."

The neutrally-colored video featured simple-yet-eye catching choreography with dancers in trench coats and fedoras. In a statement, the masked marvel says that there is a deeper meaning behind the track, which was featured on Grown-ish.

"These young women are in a face off with their inner fears; that's why it sometimes may look like they're engaging in a face off with themselves," the Brooklyn-bred musician says of the song. "It's about facing whatever your Goliath is and chopping its head off. That's what 'Tic Boom' is about. It's about owning your moment, mastery, and doing it afraid if you have to."

As for the Acrylic Tour, it will begin on March 19 in Kansas City, MO, and concludes on Apr. 26 in San Diego, Calif. Check out the full list of dates below and cop your tickets today.
