The World Was This Close To Never Seeing Cardi B In The Spotlight
Once again, Cardi B has made history. The Bronx star recently became the first female rapper to have three singles on the Billboard Hot 100 climb to the top 10. Life seems to be good for the rapper, but don't be fooled; her ascension wasn't easy. In fact, Cardi admitted on an Instagram Live recording that she was very close to giving up on music after she was kicked off a song.
"I did a verse to somebody's song," Cardi recalled of her pre-"Bodak Yellow" days. "Other artists were on the song as well. I was so excited because I felt like my verse was so poppin'." But things quickly changed from good to terrible. "Then, the artist told me that I couldn't be on the song anymore because one of the artists that was on the song felt like I was too small and they were too big for me to be on the same song with them."
She continued: "I was just fresh off Love & Hip-Hop and everything, and that shit broke my heart." She also admitted that she can be insecure and that the rejection hurt a lot. But it looks like the joke was really on them.
Since then, Cardi has gotten a major record label deal, topped the charts, and received two Grammy nominations for "Bodak Yellow." As for her upcoming album the artist just tells her Bardi Gang to "be patient." "A b***h is gonna put something out."
