FBI Investigating Alleged Hack Of MSNBC Host Joy Reid's Blog

Reid claims not to have written a series of homophobic blog posts from more than 10 years ago.

MSNBC host Joy Reid claims that foul play was responsible for a series of decades-old homophobic blog posts that were unearthed on Monday (April 23) and look to have been written by her, well before her cable news career began. Now, the FBI is formally investigating the accusations, her lawyer said on Wednesday night.

"We have received confirmation the FBI has opened an investigation into potential criminal activities surrounding several online accounts, including personal email and blog accounts, belonging to Joy-Ann Reid," Reid's lawyer, John H. Reichman, said in a statement that was provided to The Hollywood Reporter by MSNBC. "Our own investigation and monitoring of the situation will continue in parallel, and we are cooperating with law enforcement as their investigation proceeds.”

The blog posts, which appeared on the now-defunct site The Reid Report, included homophobic slights against several public figures.

Reid has been aided by an independent security consultant, Jonathan Nichols, who said in a letter this week that her one-time blog, The Reid Report, was "breached."

Reid herself put out a statement denying that she was responsible for the posts. "In December I learned that an unknown, external party accessed and manipulated material from my now-defunct blog, The Reid Report, to include offensive and hateful references that are fabricated and run counter to my personal beliefs and ideology," she said in part.

MSNBC, her employer, has not commented publicly on the matter, but a source close to the situation said the network is "respectfully letting that process play itself out."

Back in December, Reid apologized for a similarly dated blog post in which she suggested dismissively that a Florida politician was homosexual.

Ed Sheeran, Chance The Rapper And PnB Rock To Release Song Tonight

Pop singer Ed Sheeran recently announced his upcoming album, No.6 Collaborations Project, which will feature nothing but– you guessed it– collaborations.

His first single off of the LP (which drops on July 12) was "I Don't Care" featuring Justin Bieber, and his next single will reportedly feature Chance The Rapper and PnB Rock. The song with the MCs is called "Cross Me," and it will drop at midnight, the same time that fans will be able to pre-order the album. The rest of the features on the 15-song album have not been announced.

“Before I was signed in 2011, I made an EP called ‘No.5 Collaborations Project,'" Sheeran wrote in his album announcement via social media. "Since then, I’ve always wanted to do another, so I started No.6 on my laptop when I was on tour last year. I’m a huge fan of all the artists I’ve collaborated with and it’s been a lot of fun to make."

This is the first time Chano and PnB have collaborated with Mr. Sheeran. Chance announced that his forthcoming "owbum" is dropping over the summer, and PnB's second studio-album TrapStar Turnt PopStar was released in early-May.

Living The Dream: Lena Waithe Gets Smooched By Halle Berry On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

Lena Waithe was Jimmy Kimmel's guest host for Jimmy Kimmel Live! while he was out for the night working on ABC's Live In Front Of A Studio Audience special, and she had a great time.

During her monologue, the Emmy-winning writer admitted she needed to get "psyched up" to be hosting the late-night show, when Halle Berry comes to her aide with the help of the "Berry Button." Waithe said that she needed some "inspiration" and "Halle Berry juice" to keep the energy going.

"Lena, you know I know you, right? We've worked together," Berry said to inspire Waithe, her Boomerang co-producer. "So I know that you are a force of nature. You are a beautiful African American queen! Lena, tonight you are a writer, an actor, a producer and tonight you are a late-night comedian. You about to slay this show! And you are already winning, girl, because you are dressed way better than Jimmy ever was."

When Berry asked if the temporary host needed anything else, she proceeded to kiss her right on the mouth. Waithe posted a clip of the smooch on her Instagram page, where many famous friends such as Janelle Monae, Issa Rae and Luke James expressed their surprise at the lip lock.

Check out their meet-up around the four-minute mark.

Homeless High School Valedictorian Granted Over $3 Million In Scholarships

A homeless high schooler from Memphis was not only named the valedictorian of his senior class, he also received over $3 million in college scholarships.

Per WHBQ, 17-year-old Tupac Mosley graduated from Raleigh Egypt High School this past weekend with a 4.3 GPA. Thanks to his incredible work in school, he was awarded over 50 scholarships, and was accepted to more than 40 colleges. He’s planning on attending Tennessee State University, where he will major in electrical engineering.

He was reportedly homeless for a majority of this school year, moving from house to house not knowing what the next day would entail. He and his family have been living in a cabin provided by a Memphis nonprofit camping site called “For The Kingdom,” which aims to lead Memphis’ urban children and teens in the right direction.

“After my father passed, we fell behind on bills and we ended up getting evicted from our home on Feb. 21,” Mosley said of their situation. “So we went to different homes so far and we were blessed to have For The Kingdom.”

Despite his challenges at home, Tupac didn’t let anything stop him. He thanked his family, friends and teachers for their unwavering support when interviewed by WHBQ.

“Everything that you poured into me was worth $3 million and counting,” he said during his valedictorian speech. “Never let your current situation, whatever circumstances you’re going through, be a mountain that you can’t climb.”
