Freeway Updates Fans On Status Of A Kidney Transplant

In 2015, Freeway began his battle with restoring his kidneys to full health. The journey to undergo a kidney transplant has been nonstop, but the “What We Do” rapper remains optimistic that he’ll receive the good news phone call soon.

His longtime friend and collaborator, Beanie Sigel, excitedly shared that Freeway received the green light for a kidney transplant. But unfortunately, the Philadelphia native had to quiet the cheers. “I did get called for a kidney and they called me back probably a few hours after that and the kidney was not usable so no one got the kidney,” he said. “I was not able to get the kidney. The great thing is I’m starting to get calls for the kidney now so it feels great, it feels amazing and I appreciate all the prayers from everybody.”

Thanks for all the Prayers Love & support!! #thinkfree

In a 2016 interview with The Baltimore Sun, Freeway stressed the importance of seeing a doctor regularly no matter the age of the patient. “A lot of people don’t go to the doctor,” he said. “A lot of people think there’s nothing wrong with them. I’m not even that old. I’m in my 30s. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anybody.”

Freeway is also preparing to release a documentary on his health journey and an album of the same name titled Think Free which will be released on June 22.
